Managing the Meal Order Screen

You can place meal orders for residents on selective menus by adding menu items individually or by ordering all, using auto-suggest a meal, repeating previous meal order, or adding a custom menu item. Meal course buttons are available for meal selection and when a meal course is selected, the sub courses and menu items appear.

You see menu items based on the resident's diet order. If a resident's diet order matches the regular menu items, those items appear for meal selection. When a resident is on a therapeutic diet, the therapeutic replacement menu items appear. Resident Notes appear so you can review resident specific details and order the best meal selections for the resident.

    • Menus > Order Manager > Unfed Residents > select a resident.

    • Menus > Order Manager > Resident Search > search for a resident > select resident.

    • Menus > Meal Orders > select a resident (recommended option for tablets).

  1. Select menu items.

  2. Click Place Order.

  • Order Summary - Verify that the date, time, and meal type is correct. Click in the fields to make corrections. The Standing Orders from the Resident Details page appear in this section.

  • Items in Selected Course - Allows you to view items in the selected course.

  • Selective Menu View (Order Manager Only) - Allows you to view, on the screen, the same courses and menu items that print on the Selective Menu report, in the same format as the report.

  • Meal Courses - Select a meal course to see its sub courses and menu items. Courses and sub courses appear. Click a sub course button to view additional menu items available.

    • Some menu items can be unavailable (button disabled) because of a resident allergy.

    • A thumbs down icon appears for menu items listed as dislikes for the resident. You can still order these items.

    • As you select menu items, they appear under the Order Summary.

  • Order All - Select option to order all menu items appearing under the selected course.

  • Auto Suggest Meal - Select all main choice menu items available for the meal.

  • Add Custom Item - Search for menu items not offered at the current meal to add to the Order Summary.

  • Show Plates photo(s) - Click on photo(s) to show a resident an enlarged digital picture of the plate.

  • Order History - View past meal orders for the selected resident. This helps if the resident wants to repeat an order placed in the past.

    1. Click Order History.

    2. Enter delivery date or click clear to see all orders.

    3. Click on previous order.

    4. Click Repeat order.

    5. Follow prompts.

  • Order Summary Ticket Notes - Add a note to the order summary. For example, resident likes a straw with beverages or provide extra napkins.

  • Meal Type - Select from the list. For example, resident or guest and Main Meal or Celebration Meal.

  • Menu Item Note - Add a note for a specific menu item using the conversation icon. For example, add ice to soup to cool off or cut sandwich into 4 pieces.

  • Refused Meal - Select if the resident refuses the meal, click Refused Meal and provide a reason for tracking purposes.

  • Now Tray or Rush - Select to print the meal ticket immediately for rush meal orders. For example, resident has a doctor appointment or must be served quickly.

  • Place Order - Select to place the order as it appears in the Order Summary.

  • Menu items that are unsuitable for the resident's diet order appear red and crossed out in the Order Summary. You can still place the order after following the prompts.

  • You can add menu items assigned as modifiers by navigating to the sub course and selecting the item.

  • You can click the arrow next to the Order Summary to open up the order summary window for easier read back to the resident.

  • If you choose a Meal Type of Resident Main or Celebration Meal, the resident is considered fed and no longer appears in Unfed Listing. However, if you choose a different option such as Snack or Supplement, the resident remains unfed and continues to appear in Unfed Listing for meal.

  • You can select the Meal Type of Missing Item to add a menu item that was missed or must be added for a previous meal. This does not change the meal status for the resident.

  • Menu items that appear in black font and crossed out are menu items that are not available for the meal period and must be deleted before you can place the order. This can occur when you repeat an order from a previous meal period.
