Managing Therapeutic Spread View

You can view a day's meal or a specific course within the meal in the Therapeutic Spread View screen and compare it to selected therapeutic menu spread(s). You can assign menu items as main choice or alternates, edit menu item details, adjust portion sizes, add or remove replacement menu items, mark items as not needed, and exclude the regular menu item on a therapeutic menu.

  1. Click Views.

  2. Click Therapeutic Spread View.

  3. Click Back to return to menu entry screen.

  • Everyday - Click to remove list of everyday menu items.

  • Choose Menus to View - Click to select up to 4 Therapeutic Menus to view.

  • Orange circle - Click to assign menu item as Main Choice.

  • M icon - Click to assign menu item as Alternate choice.

  • Menu item or check mark - Click to open Menu Item Detail. Review and update the fields, if needed.

    • Name - Type information.

    • Button Name (Menus enabled) - Type information. Appears on Menu Item Reports, in the meal ordering screen, and on resident meal tickets.

    • Print Group (Menus enabled) - Select option. A menu item’s print group determines the location of the menu item on the tray ticket and allows similar items to be grouped together to assist with meal tray preparation. 

    • Category - Select option. Select a Menu Item Category for the menu item.

    • Serving Size - Type information. Enter a serving size quantity and a measure.

    • Serving Description - Type information. Appears on the Tray Card and Meal Ticket. Can be entered as a measurable quantity, 1 each, 1 packet, 1 slice, and so on.

    • Fluid Amount (mL) -Type information.

    • Recipe Link Not Required - Select option if the menu item does not require a linked recipe. For example, milk or jam. 

    • Recipe Link - Select option to link a recipe to the menu item by linking a recipe to the menu item, the recipe is included when you print various Production reports. When linked, you can click the recipe name to view the Recipe report. 

    • Nutrient Link Not Required - Select option if the menu item does not need to be included in the nutritional analysis calculations. For example, food or non-stick cooking spray.

    • Nutrient Link - Select this option if the menu item does not require a recipe, but it provides nutritional value. For example, milk or apple juice. Select a nutrient item from your nutrient library (USDA, PCC or Custom source) so that nutritional analysis can be calculated.

  • Portion adjust - Click up down arrow and select new portion. Hover over the check mark in a therapeutic menu column to show the portion adjust icon.

  • Unsuitable or check mark - Hover over unsuitable or the check mark and click the replace icon to replace the menu item. 

    1. Replace with - Search or type in menu item. 

    2. Select menu item.

    3. Select Replace all where suitable, if applicable.

    4. Click Replace.

  • Unsuitable - Hover over unsuitable and click red x if a replacement menu item is not required. Menu item shows as not needed.

  • Check mark - Hover over check mark and click red x if a regular menu item must be excluded from a therapeutic menu. Menu item shows as excluded

  • Click Legend for definition of icons.

  • You can duplicate a menu item from the Menu Item Detail screen.
