Creating and Managing Nutrient Items

In Nutrient Items, you can create and manage your master list of Nutrient Items, including Nutrient Items from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), PointClickCare (PCC), and your own custom source. You can create new Nutrient Items or duplicate existing items from USDA and PCC Nutrient sources to edit.

The nutrient library lists all of the available Nutrient Items that you can link to ingredients or directly to menu items. When ingredient and menu item nutrient links are in place, you can nutritionally analyze ingredients, recipes, menu items, and menu sets.

  1. Administrator > Nutrient Analysis Setup >Nutrient Items.

  • Add - Select to create custom Nutrient Items and enter nutrient information for ingredients or menu items you use that do not have a corresponding nutrient item from USDA or PCC sources.

  • Edit - Select to edit nutrient information for a Custom Nutrient Item. You cannot edit items from USDA or PCC nutrient sources.

  • Duplicate - Select to duplicate details of an existing Nutrient Item to create a custom Nutrient Item. You can then modify the nutrient details to better match the food products you use in your menus.

  • Show All Nutrients icon - After highlighting a Nutrient item, select this option to view and edit details. You can view and edit custom Nutrient items, but you can only view Nutrient Items from USDA or PCC nutrient sources.

  • In the Edit Nutrient Item window, click the Show All Nutrients icon to view linked menu items or ingredients, if available.

  • From Print Report, you can print a list of all nutrient items or a list of nutrient items from a selected source.
