Managing Kitchens

This screen contains configuration settings for Menu Setup for Kitchens. To take meal orders for residents, you must set up your facility kitchen(s) and indicate which units or dining areas are serviced and which printers and templates the kitchen uses. In addition, you need to define start and end times for your meal periods.

If you want to print resident meal tickets on a thermal printer, for each kitchen and it's printer, select the print server, enter printer names, and select ticket templates.

If you want to print batched resident meal tickets on a laser printer, for each kitchen, select a print orientation and the ticket template.

  • Name - Type information.

  • Meal Start Times - Select times. Type in the hour and minutes manually or position your cursor in the hour or minute section and use the up and down arrow keys to set the time.

  • Units and or Dining Areas Served - Select option. Select which units or dining areas are serviced from this kitchen.

  • Batch Print - Select option. Assign whether a unit or dining area is batch printed by selecting the unit or dining area.

  • Print Server - Select option.

  • Printer Type

    • Thermal Printer Name - Type information.

    • Print Ticket Template - Select option.

  • Other Meal Ticket Options

    • BATCH (laser) - Select option. Select orientation, then print ticket template from list if printing batch tickets on a laser printer.

    • TICKET DASHBOARD - Select option. Select print ticket template to view meal tickets on the ticket dashboard.

  • Assigning a dining area serviced by a kitchen is helpful when you have individuals who are not assigned to a bed or unit, but do come in 1 time a day and are served a meal.

  • From the Print Server list, select a facility or corporate printer based on your Print Server setup.

  • If your facility only does Batch orders (meal orders taken in advance), you can select a ticket template for BATCH (laser) and select print orientation for print to laser printer.

    • You can purchase letter paper that is perforated into 3 panels or use a paper cutter.

    • Portrait orientation reduces the frequency of information spilling to a second page.

  • Batched Units or Dining Areas only print a Tray Ticket, and do not have a Hot or Cold ticket.

    • Hot or Cold tickets only apply to non-batched orders, which generally consist more of short-order cooking and may have separate areas of production.

    • Batch Printed meal orders are generally all prepared at one time, in one production area, where staff are assembling meals on trays.
